Making a Difference in the Community
In March, I sponsored a Marketing Panel discussion for the Greater Rockville Chamber of Commerce (GRCC). I have been interested in getting involved with Comfort Cases. So Heidi Webb attended our event and spoke about this incredible Charity. If you heard her speak, you would also want to get involved. This picture captures some of us who volunteered last Monday. We filled packbacks with items for kids going through the Foster Care System. Kids often are only given a trash bag to put their things in. However, this organization was founded to create a better way to do this. To let children know they matter. To give them some love, attention, and dignity as they go through this process. When we arrived, we were given a tour and assigned duties from folding blankets and tying them with a ribbon to gathering items to be placed in the backpacks and filling boxes with backpacks to be shipped out that day. The backpacks contain blankets, stuffies (stuffed animals), books, journals, pens, pencils, coloring books, PJs, personal hygiene items - age specific to the child, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, pads, shampoo. I may have missed a few things, but you get the idea. It touches your heart in a unique way when you know what you are doing is making a big difference in the lives of so many young people. Comfort Cases is a charity that is so needed in our country, and they cover all 50 states, DC, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom. Volunteering your time, money, and effort can make a huge difference for a charity like Comfort Cases. Think about it.
