Finding Joy: Embracing My Word for 2025
As we step into a new year, I’ve decided to embrace a tradition that has brought clarity and intention to my life: choosing a word to define my year. For 2025, my word is Joy.
The Power of a Word
Selecting a single word to focus on throughout the year is a simple yet profound exercise. It’s more than a resolution; it’s a daily reminder of what truly matters. A word can act as a compass, gently steering our choices, attitudes, and energy in the direction of our goals and values.
When life gets hectic, having this focal point allows me to pause and recalibrate. It’s a lens through which I can evaluate my actions and mindset. Does this decision, thought, or action align with my word? If not, it’s an opportunity to pivot.
Why Joy?
Joy feels like a warm embrace, a beacon in the storm, a constant reminder to find light even in challenging times. Lately, I’ve been reflecting on what brings true fulfillment, and the answer always comes back to moments of joy—those sparks of happiness that ignite our spirits and remind us of life’s beauty.
As a small business owner, I’ve experienced both the highs and the challenges of entrepreneurship. Through it all, I’ve learned that joy isn’t something to be earned; it’s something to be cultivated. It’s in the laughter shared with my team, the satisfaction of creating a meaningful gift for a client, and the gratitude that comes from simply being present.
On a personal level, joy reminds me to savor life’s little pleasures: the vivid colors of a garden, the soothing rhythm of waves at the ocean, the creative escape of painting, and the love and support of family, especially my young nieces and nephews and of course my friends.
Living with Intention
By anchoring my year in joy, I’m making a commitment to seek it out, celebrate it, and share it. It means prioritizing what truly matters—relationships, personal growth, and moments of beauty—while letting go of what doesn’t serve me.
Joy is contagious. By choosing it, I hope to inspire others to find their own. Imagine a world where we each carry a bit more light and share it freely. That’s the world I want to be part of, and that’s the journey I’m setting out on for 2025.
Your Word, Your Year
If you’ve never chosen a word for the year, I encourage you to try. Think about what resonates with you—what you want to invite more of into your life. Whether it’s peace, courage, or growth, let your word be a guide and a gift to yourself.
This year, I choose Joy. What about you?
